Carmen Salgado is in Senior Hell. That’s what she calls it. Her parents renovate houses for a living, and this time, her
parents were unable to find another house in her hometown to purchase. So, against Carmen’s wishes, they move
twenty miles away from everything she knows.

Her family moves in next door to Molly Barton. Molly is all-around perfect. She’s a cheerleader. She’s the senior
class president. She gets all A's and B's. Her family is rich. AND she’s seriously involved with Joey Perrone. From
Carmen’s work studio above the garage, she has a clear shot into Molly’s bedroom. And there she happens to
oversee the couple have a major fight. Joey storms out and runs into Carmen in front of the two houses. There, he
invites her out, and thus begins the woes for Carmen for the end of the school year.

All Carmen wants is to find a date for the Prom. She can’t attend the prom at her old high school unless she has a
date or is a current student. So that means she has to find a date at her current school, Norton. With the help of her
best friend from her old school, they go through the possibilities. When Joey asks Carmen out, Carmen starts to
ponder the idea of going with him.

But Joey turns out to be a total cad on their date. He takes Carmen to park at the lake and they start to make out.
But when Carmen doesn’t put out, he leaves her to walk all the way home from the lake alone. To make matters
worse, Joey keeps a blog, “Joey’s Joint,” and lies about his date, saying they’ve gone all the way. Previously
invisible at her school, now she’s getting attention -- just the unwanted kind.

When she joins the school musical, she attracts the attention of the lead, Tyler North. Tyler never acknowledges the
rumors started by Joey and, after a few missed attempts, they finally get to date. But Tyler may be just as bad as
    Joey.

When Carmen finally has enough at her school, she decides to take back her reputation in an over-the-top gesture.
With some newfound friends at Norton, and an amazing dress, she faces the Prom and those that have said the
    worst things about her.

Ms. Stine writes a candid look at how words written on someone’s blog can destroy another person’s reputation.
Carmen finally reaches her limit and fights back against those who have wronged her.
