Interview with Michael K. Bialys
First off, thanks so much for joining us for an up-close and personal interview for TeensReadToo.com! My
name is Jen, and I’ll be your server toda…oh, wait, wrong job! Anyway, thanks so much for taking time out
of your writing schedule—which I’m sure is busy!—and answering a few questions for your readers and fans.

Let’s get some of the typical interview questions out of the way first. When did you first know that you
wanted to be a writer?

Interestingly enough, I never really aspired to be a writer. My first book started out as a story that I wrote for
my eldest daughter. I sent it to three publishers on a whim, just to see if it was worth anything, and two out
of three made me a publishing offer.

Can you tell us a little bit about your road to publishing?

After writing five or so chapters of my story, I researched the publishing process and sent out what I had to
some publishers.

Tell us a little bit about either your latest or upcoming release. If you could only tell your readers one thing
about the story that had to convince us to buy the book, what would it be?

I am about 2/3rds into the second book. I have acquired the license to include a very popular literary
character as a guest character in the nest book, entitled
“The Chronicles of the Virago, Book II The
Apprentus.”
(Currently published is The Chronicles of the Virago, Book 1: The Novus)

What, or who, has been the greatest inspiration for your stories?

I grew up reading comic books, I was a huge, Spiderman, X-men fan. For me the Sci-Fi fantasy genre was a
natural.

Let’s hear about your family, who I’m sure are thrilled to have a published author among them!

My family was and is an integral part of the entire process. The entire book was inspired by my eldest
daughter Makenna, who just happens to have the same name as the lead character. My wife Misty, who is
quite literally my muse, and I had two babies Emi and Noah 18 months apart. Poor Makenna at age 10,
suddenly had to share the spotlight with these two new babies.

Makenna came through like a trooper. She was extremely helpful with her new brother and sister , and it
was this situation that inspired the storyline.

To speak nothing of the fact that my wife, Misty inspires daily! I always want to be better for her.

Now for some fun facts. What’s your greatest comfort food?

Pastrami sandwich!

What are the first three things you do when you wake up in the morning?

Get Babies out of bed
Feed the kids
Change Noah
Not very glamorous is it?

If I came to your house and looked in your closet/attic/basement, what’s the one thing that would surprise
me the most?

The amount of comic books you’d find.

Everyone asks the question about “if you could be a tree, which tree would you be?” so I want to know: If
you could be a color, which color would it be, and why?

RED! Can’t be ignored!

Who is your favorite cartoon character? Which cartoon character is most like you?

I’d say Spiderman, although before he was a cartoon, he was a comic book character. I think we are alike
because if you were ever to meet his alter ego, Peter Parker, you’d have no idea of what super-powered
potential he actual had; but it’s there!

If you could beam yourself to anywhere in the world (“Beam me up, Scotty!”), during any time in history,
where and when would it be—and why?

Although I am a big fan of the here and now, If I had to beam anywhere, I think I would have liked to have
witnessed Moses receiving the 10 commandments. I just don’t think it gets any more momentous than that.

So what’s your favorite type of music to listen to? Favorite musical artists? Do you listen to music while
you’re writing?

I listen to a lot of different types of music. But I love classic R&B, Alternative. And even country. Its hard to
pick one favorite, I listen to so much, but not while I’m writing.

Do you have any favorite T.V. shows? Movies you watch over and over again? What was the last movie you
saw at the theater?

T.V. ---Heroes---of course
All of the X-men movies
Zodiac

You have the chance to give one piece of advice to your teen readers. What would it be?

Never underestimate yourself or your work. If you can create it, it has value!

One last question. What stories can we look forward to from you in the future?

Well to start out with The Chronicles of the Virago, Book II The Apprentus & The Chronicles of the Virago,
Book III The Triumvirates.

Again, thanks so much for joining us at TeensReadToo.com!
