Interview with Christopher Wayne Collins
First off, thanks so much for joining us for an up-close and personal interview for TeensReadToo.com!
My name is Jen, and I’ll be your server toda…oh, wait, wrong job! Anyway, thanks so much for taking
time out of your writing schedule—which I’m sure is busy!—and answering a few questions for your
readers and fans.

Not a problem, I am happy to be here.

Let’s get some of the typical interview questions out of the way first. When did you first know that you
wanted to be a writer?

I was around 11 years old when I began work on my first (failed) novel. I knew then that I would
continue to write.

Can you tell us a little bit about your road to publishing?

Well, I have been involved in a lot of different publishing ventures. I basically just called and emailed a lot
of people. Eventually I found several that accepted me and chose one of those. Half Full Publishing
mainly just printed pamphlets and such locally, but took me on.. They are funding and working with me on
the project.

Tell us a little bit about either your latest or upcoming release. If you could only tell your readers one
thing about the story that had to convince us to buy the book, what would it be?

My first novel, The Utopia Project: Independence, is coming out in September. One thing I would say to
you would be: This is a story of hardship and leadership. It is not everyday that a group of kids start a
nation.

What, or who, has been the greatest inspiration for your stories?

Politics and Ravyn Crescent (an amazing young author) have inspired me, along with my parents.

Let’s hear about your family, who I’m sure are thrilled to have a published author among them!

My parents have supported me so much in all of my ventures. They have done so much for me over the
years and are truly amazing people.

Now for some fun facts. What’s your greatest comfort food?

I know it's sort of common but, I like pizza.

What are the first three things you do when you wake up in the morning?

Stretch, Look at the Clock, and Sit Up

If I came to your house and looked in your closet/attic/basement, what’s the one thing that would
surprise me the most?

All of the toy computers, I was obsessed with them before getting a real PC.

Everyone asks the question about “if you could be a tree, which tree would you be?” so I want to know: If
you could be a color, which color would it be, and why?

I would be blue, because I would be seen every time someone used Windows XP, hehe.

Who is your favorite cartoon character? Which cartoon character is most like you?

I like Dexter from Dexter's Lab. But the most like me would have to be Supreme Kai from Dragon Ball Z.
Please note that I no longer watch cartoons, hehe.

If you could beam yourself to anywhere in the world (“Beam me up, Scotty!”), during any time in history,
where and when would it be—and why?

1700, London. I would love the court intrigue and all of those sorts of things. Politics is amazing.

So what’s your favorite type of music to listen to? Favorite musical artists? Do you listen to music while
you’re writing?

I like all types of music, really. I love Bach, Pachelbel, and All American Rejects. I do, occasionally, listen
to music while I write but I find it distracting mostly.

Do you have any favorite T.V. shows? Movies you watch over and over again? What was the last movie
you saw at the theater?

My favorite TV Show would have to be House, I love the wit and the show in general! I have watched
Hotel Rwanda and The Pursuit of Happyness many times.  They are my favorite movies. The last movie I
saw at the cinema was Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix.

You have the chance to give one piece of advice to your teen readers. What would it be?

Set goals. That has helped me achieve so much.  Just set goals, and work towards them.

One last question. What stories can we look forward to from you in the future?

My first novel, The Utopia Project: Independence, comes out in September, but it is worth noting that it
is only the first of my titles. I hope to have many more to come.
