This is THE DAVINCI CODE for the younger set. It is a fast-paced fantasy with mermaids, a rock band, surfers,
magical creatures, a conspiracy, and lots of mayhem.
The main character is Dippy, who is a member of a rock band named The Wave Wranglers. He is the lead singer of
the band. All of the members of the band are also surfers. When Dippy wipes out on a wave, he meets Annemarie,
who is a mermaid and the daughter of one of the rulers of Atlantis.
She tells Dippy of a great conspiracy that will bring the destruction of life as we know it. She gives him the task of
finding a strange animal called the catapus and finding her father, who has been captured by the New Order of the
Pyramid.
After a few chapters explaining a lot of history, the adventure begins with a ride on a whale and the capture of Dippy.
The rest of the band members ride the whale down to Mexico. There they meet the catapus and then leave quickly to
rescue Dippy. Dippy, meanwhile, has been captured and meets Annemarie's dad.
THE WAVE WRANGLERS AND THE NEW ORDER OF THE PYRAMID can be very complicated but is also
fascinating. It can be read by middle graders, but I believe that high schoolers will appreciate it more. It is a fun short
read that is the beginning of a series.
So, until the next book comes out, as the author would say: Love! Be Courageous! Wonder! Worry!... DREAM!
